P. Quemada

Playa Quemada (PQ) in Lanzarote is a coastal cliff launch site, primarily suitable for Northeast (NE) to East (E) winds. It features cliff launches approximately 45m above the sea, making it ideal for coastal soaring along the cliffs towards Papagayo. Pilots should exercise caution with high tides and power lines. Top landing is possible, with the main landing zone located in the valley near the Femes/Macher roundabout.

Pilots typically launch from the first hill, fly right to gain height, and monitor the Macher landing zone (Waypoint: MACHLP) used by both hang gliders and paragliders.

Ideal for relaxed, stress-free coastal flights with scenic views over bizarre rocks and the sea.

Orientation & Wind

• Wind: Primarily Northeast (NE) to East (E), occasionally Southeast (SE).
• Launch: Cliff launch; access by walking up from the LZ-706 road near Playa Quemada village.
• Flight Path: After takeoff, fly right to gain height at the next cliff and soar along the coastline. You could reach Playa Blanca on a good day.

Landing Zones

• Main Landing: Easy top landing behind the takeoff area. (Beach/shore landing options if wind drops)

• Caution: High tides can impact beach landings; be aware of power lines near Femes.
