Pechos / Famara

Los Pechos is the main gateway to the Risco de Famara, considered the best flight of the region. When conditions are good you can easily takeoff from Pechos Altos, where you park you car, and fly over Chimida, Cerro Terroro, Famara, all the way to Mirador del Río and almost get to Orzola.

It also features gentle slopes and open terrain ideal for training.

It is a hilly area near Teguise in the central-northern part of Lanzarote, often accessed via sandy roads from the LZ-402 toward Caleta de Famara or nearby sites like Mala.

Flying Conditions

• Excellent for ground handling (kiting), slope practice, and short soaring flights.
• Ideal for beginners and training due to multiple launch heights, gentle slopes, and forgiving terrain.
• Light wind conditions preferred; best in mornings or evenings for smoother air.

Takeoff

• Multiple takeoff options at varying heights on the hills.
• Spacious, easy areas with sandy/grassy surfaces; good for reverse launches and ground practice.
• Access via dirt/sandy roads (4x4 recommended in some spots).

Landing

• Easy top landing or bottom landing in open areas.
• Abundant safe landing zones nearby; low-risk due to flat surroundings.
